“When I was in Grade 8, I really struggled with maths. It got to a point where I was convinced that I would switch to Mathematical Literacy in Grade 10. My dad, however, believed in my potential and decided to find me a tutor. That’s how I ended up at Mr. Zulu’s tutoring academy—a decision that completely changed my academic journey.

Right from the start, I saw a difference. I remember the very first test I wrote after joining the academy—I scored in the high 70s, a result that had felt almost impossible before. By the end of that term, I had achieved a distinction, something I never thought I could do. I continued attending Mr. Zulu’s lessons all the way through to matric, and by the time I wrote my final exams, I was consistently scoring between 70% and 80% in maths.

“I have always battled with properly understanding maths, as time went by I eventually started to harbor a dislike towards maths. Two of my maths classmates suggested that I join their tutoring classes that were run by Mr. Zulu and so in matric I joined Mr B Zulu’s Maths programme.

For the first three terms, I maintained an 80% average, but I was hospitalized for two weeks (during third term trial exams) and needed another month to recover.
