TESTIMONIALS

Mabutho Hlongwane, Candidate Attorney

“Before my extra maths tuition with Mr B. Zulu, I was really struggling with mathematics. In matric, at the last hour, just before the final exams, my mother decided to enroll me in Mr Zulu’s extra classes. These classes ensured my approach towards Maths was the correct one and also highlighted possibilities for me to pass a subject that had been my achilles heel for the longest time.

Since then, I have been able to pass my matric with 5 distinctions.

Post matric, I successfully logged multiple hours and passed all my theory exams for my private pilot licence and have attained both my BA (Law) and LLB degree from Wits. I am currently employed as a candidate attorney in Gauteng. This was all possible due to my being able to pass Maths core which meant my passing of matric as a whole. I am forever grateful.”

Owethu Ndlela, Quantitative Analyst at Ernst & Young (EY)

With Mr Zulu’s help and dedication to helping me not only improve my marks but also grow a passion for maths, I managed to maintain a 90%+ average from grades 10-12 where I got 100% for maths in grade 10, 96% in grade 11 and 94% for my final Matric maths mark.

I was placed in the top 10 in the uMgungundlovu district in my matric year. The love for maths that grew inside me thanks to Mr Zulu lead to me pursuing a mathematically inclined degree in university. After my matric year I was accepted for both actuarial science and medicine at the University of Pretoria, Wits and the University of Cape Town thanks to my amazing maths mark. I ended up deciding to pursue a degree in actuarial science at the University of Cape Town. I was also offered a bursary from the Allan Gray Orbis Foundation that paid for my tuition fees, accommodation and allowance throughout my degree.

I could never truly thank Mr Zulu enough for the amazing foundation he laid for me and the love for maths that grew inside me thanks to his passion and dedication to teaching us.

"I was tutored by Mr B Zulu from 2018 to 2019." Mpho Shezi

"I now hold a Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Commerce honours in actuarial science specialising in quantitative finance from the University of Cape Town. My majors included mathematics, mathematical statistics and finance and the degree I hold has a less than 33% completion rate. Without the help of Mr Zulu, I would have never been able to pick and choose the university and degree."

Zama Nzama ... Electrical Engineering, Honours student

When I was in Grade 8, I really struggled with maths. It got to a point where I was convinced that I would switch to Mathematical Literacy in Grade 10. My dad, however, believed in my potential and decided to find me a tutor. That’s how I ended up at Mr. Zulu’s tutoring academy—a decision that completely changed my academic journey.

Right from the start, I saw a difference. I remember the very first test I wrote after joining the academy—I scored in the high 70s, a result that had felt almost impossible before. By the end of that term, I had achieved a distinction, something I never thought I could do. I continued attending Mr. Zulu’s lessons all the way through to matric, and by the time I wrote my final exams, I was consistently scoring between 70% and 80% in maths.

Mr. Zulu wasn’t just an incredible teacher because of his knowledge and teaching methods; he was also deeply motivating. He made maths fun and approachable, constantly reminded us that no problem was too hard to solve, and refused to let us believe that maths was impossible.

Now, as I pursue my honours degree in Electrical Engineering, I look back and realize that I wouldn’t be where I am today without Mr. Zulu’s guidance and encouragement. His support transformed the way I saw myself and my abilities. For that, I will always be grateful.

Mnikeli Ndlovu, UKZN Student

I have always battled with properly understanding maths, as time went by I eventually started to harbor a dislike towards maths. Two of my maths classmates suggested that I join their tutoring classes that were run by Mr. Zulu and so in matric I joined Mr B Zulu’s Maths programme.

From then on my maths gradually improved and it was all thanks to Mr. Zulu’s brilliant mind and way of explaining maths in a way that made it simple to understand. Even though my final matric marks were not as good as expected but I was able to enrol at UKZN with those marks.

Even after i had left Mr. Zulu’s tutoring my maths as a first year university student continued to improve because of the key points I picked up at his lessons

Owethu Lushozi , Computer Science and IT Double Major

I was tutored by Mr. B. Zulu in mathematics during my matric year (2022), a year that presented significant challenges for me. For the first three terms, I maintained an 80% average, but I was hospitalized for two weeks (during third term trial exams) and needed another month to recover. This meant I missed a few exams and a considerable amount of class time during a critical period.

Mr. Zulu went above and beyond to help me catch up. He provided extra resources, dedicated his time, and supported me with no additional cost to ensure I could recover from the setbacks. Thanks to his expertise and unwavering dedication, I managed to achieve a final mark of 75% in mathematics, despite the obstacles I faced.

Mr. Zulu’s passion for teaching and his genuine care for his students are unmatched. His teachings instilled in me the values of hard work and perseverance, which I have carried into my tertiary education. I am now a third-year Computer Science student, pursuing a double major in Computer Science and Information Technology. In a field with one of the highest failure and dropout rates, I have passed every year without any setbacks, a testament to the foundation he helped me build.

Mr. Zulu’s mentorship not only improved my maths marks but also equipped me with the skills and mindset needed to succeed in life. I will always be grateful for his dedication and belief in his students’ potential.

Akhona Mlotshwa

I matriculated in 2022. I used the tutorial services of Mr Zulu, during matric.

It was beneficial in: increasing my understanding, building a routine and ensuring my memory on the topics were long term. It definitely requires a lot of time and effort, but with communication you can find a suitable routine for you. Especially, when you’re busy with other commitments. I would recommend this tutorial, as I found it helpful.

Mr Zulu’s maths extra lessons had a tremendous impact in my life, he was patient and insured no one gets left behind. He had this unique way of explaining concepts, I remember being pulled aside by Mrs Hyde who was my maths teacher in high school and she asked where did I learn to problem solve like that. She said my maths problem solving skills were highly technical.

All thanks to Mr Zulu, the knowledge he imparted on all his students paved the way for many of us who were struggling to grasp mathematical concepts. Mr Zulu truly embodies the qualities of an exceptional educationalist.

Mageba, I thank you.
